ARYO fall concert: Wed. November 23rd, 2022
Regular scheduled concerts are an intrinsic part of the ARYO program, and generally take place around the end of each term. Community events and outreach to schools, as well as participation in the Annapolis Valley Music Festival provide additional performance opportunities.
Most recent concert! the ARYO Orchestra and the Fiddle Group performed at the end of year concert of the Horton High School Bands, on Thursday, June 9th at 7:00 PM. Many thanks to the Horton band teacher, Lyndsey Mitchell, for welcoming our students!
We held an in-person concert for families of students on Tuesday Nov. 23rd 2021 at Horton Community Centre in Grand Pré. Our Fiddle Group was able to perform in public for the first time since the Covid-19 outbreak, at the West Brooklyn Speakeasy Christmas Craft Fair on Nov. 20th. Our end of year concert took place on April 5th.
On Dec. 1st, 2020 we held an in-person concert at the Horton Community Centre, Grand Pré. In December some ARYO instructors and students offered a concert of Christmas music via Zoom to Wickwire Place Seniors’ Residence, Wolfville. In the spring we were unable to perform in person but collaborated with the Acadia University String Orchestra in a recorded concert, broadcast on Youtube on April 15th . The Conundrum String Quartet, with two ARYO instructors as members, performed in person at our “Try an Instrument Day” at Horton Community Centre on April 20th.
The Covid-19 outbreak caused the cancellation of all performances scheduled for March and April 2020. Nevertheless we were able to conclude our series of online sessions with a recorded concert by some of our students at the Wolfville Baptist Church on June 30th. The concert, broadcast over Eastlink TV, was part of a project organized by the Wolfville Area Inter-Church Council to bring music into Seniors’ homes in our area.
We look forward to finding imaginative ways to continue to perform next season!
